Over the course of the last year or so I have seen this idea keep popping up on Pinterest and in TV shows to make bird feeders out of vintage teacups and saucers. I just love this idea! I think this is so clever. Especially, if you have a favorite vintage teacup that has gotten chipped and you just don't want to part with it. Well, now you don't have to! You can create a new purpose for your teacup, and make it a bird feeder!
I am not a huge tea drinker out of teacups. I am more of a mug gal. So, I had to go onto Etsy.com to buy some vintage teacups, and oh my there are a lot to choose from. I found a vendor who sold teacups and saucers that were all mismatched, which I like. I bought 4 teacups and saucers and then went to work making some really creative bird feeders to hang in my plum trees.
The process started with gathering all of the materials once the teacups arrived in the mail. I bought a big bag of bird seed with assorted seeds and nuts. I also bought some gorilla glue and gathered some twine and scissors. That was it! These were all the materials I needed. Here is a photo of the materials to make a hanging bird feeder teacup.

Once I gathered all of the materials I glued the teacup itself to the saucer, on its side, so that when a bird flys to the teacup it can perch on the saucer and snack on the seeds inside the cup.
Here are some photos of the final product.

Aren't these great!?! I just love them!!! And these little creative teacup and saucer bird feeders look great in the trees. I am enjoying the birds and this project was a fun thing to do on a sunny afternoon. Although I couldn't have done it with out my little helper...José!

He's such a good buddy! Thanks for the help José! LOL!
