My Gourd and Pumpkin Patch

In early June I planted seeds for my new gourd and pumpkin patch at the cabin. Now that it is August the seeds have grown into big plants and I am starting to see some gourds, cucumbers, and summer squash. There are a lot of orange/yellow blooms and the bees at the cabin seem happy to have something to pollinate. Here is a great image of a big pumpkin bloom with a bumble bee crawling into the center of it.

The gourd and pumpkin patch is constructed of 8 foot timbers that are dug into the ground 2 feet. There is netting all around the gourd and pumpkin patch to keep the deer out. I have a simple wooden swinging door with a latch to access the garden. Here are my most recent photos of what is growing in the gourd and pumpkin patch.

There are so many great pictures of the gourds, pumpkin blossoms, cucumbers and summer squash! I can't wait to see what the pumpkins will look like. I planted one pumpkin variety that is supposed to get up to 200 lbs! The other pumpkins I planted will be perfect for making fall pumpkin pies. Yum! Thanks for reading my blog about my new gourd and pumpkin patch. It is growing well so far. Message me if you have any questions or want to share what you are growing this year in your garden. Have a great day!
