POETRY

The Story

What is it that fuels you creatively? For me, it is poetry. I love writing about my life in a creative way that I can share with others. Poetry can create an illustration, much like a painting, in the mind and can also bring up different emotions. I like that about poetry and I am going to publish some poetry here to share with you.

Miss Ann Finstad is truly my own little passion project, gaining more and more traction each day. I hope you enjoy browsing my site and all of the unique content I have to offer. Take a look around; perhaps you’ll discover what fuels you as well. Read on and enjoy!

HAIKU-CABIN STYLE

The leaves whisper words
The dome of the sky is blue
Tonight I will howl

SUNSHINE IN THE COUNTRY

A poem by Ann Finstad

The sun is so bright and welcoming this morning I could drink it in through my skin.

Clouds linger by in a bright country blue sky.

Budding trees reach up tall to dust the sky with their new growth.

Sunshine pours over me like a waterfall of warmth and familiarity.

The grass glows green in the golden sunlight and my eyes wink into a smile as I soak it all in.

MOTH

A poem by Ann Finstad

Camouflaged and still you pretend I can't see you.

Planted firmly in place on my window, guarding the view.

I'd say, "hello" but I think you are sleeping.

It is late morning and the wind is whispering sounds across your wings of questions unanswered.

You can stay and guard my window. Enjoy the view!

MY FOREST

A poem by Ann Finstad

The forest is dense with unknowns and sounds unidentifiable by my urban female ear.

The forest goes on like time, never ending. The forest is full of life and creatures that call it home.

The forest is mine, we own much of what I can see. The forest will be my haven from the violence in the city, from the racism, the hate, and the crime.

The forest will wrap me up in its arms like a warm blanket on a cold night and cuddle my fears and worries away.

The forest is mine to explore. To gather knowledge and expand myself; the self.

The forest will be my home for however long it is allowed. I will keep it safe and it will keep me sound.
